Additional Art Camp Date
This
is a three day summer art camp designed for students new to classical
art. Students will be introduced to art terms and tools while being
taught the foundation to drawing realistic, well-proportioned, works of
art. All drawings will be done from observing a simple still life,
focusing on accurately representing the shapes, proportions, form
shadows, cast shadows, highlights, and direction of the light source.
Students will first do several drawing exercises to help them switch to using the left (artistic) side of the brain. Next, I will demonstrate before they begin work on the
still life. I will visit each individual student while they work on
their drawing to encourage them, answer questions, and offer helpful
critique. Drawings will be done using a range of graphite pencils,
conte crayon, white chalk, and kneaded erasers on white and colored paper.
To participate, please contact Emily at (405)924-8759.
July 16, 17, 19 (Mon., Tues., Thurs.) from 1-4 pm
Ages: 12 and up. (I will be flexible with ages if a student is slightly below the age limit)
Cost: $50, supplies included

Meadow B. |
Charcoal and white chalk on cream paper.
10 hours. Completed January 2012.(In this picture the dandelion is unfinished; I'll post a finished picture soon.)
I discovered the photograph of this girl on a magazine cover taken on her 16th birthday.
Two unfinished paintings begun in January 2012. . .
This is the outline, using thinned oil paint, to later help me accurately paint the still life.
A picture of the still life.
Oranges. Oil on canvas. Unfinished.
Grandma. Charcoal and white chalk on cream paper.
Finished October 2011.
27 hours.
Recaptured from a high school graduation photograph.

In progress. . .
Untitled. Charcoal on orange tinted paper. Unfinished. I worked on this for 8 hours.
Live model exercise.
Still Life of Vase and Rose. Oil on linen. Finished December 2010.
26 hours.
I loved working on the vase in this painting. . . Do you see the aqua reflection from the box on the bottom third of the vase?

Yellow Rose. Oil on linen panel. November 2010. 8 hours.
This was a real live rose I set up as a still life; something I don't usually do because fresh flowers tend to wilt before I'm even done mixing my paint.
The time crunch turned out to be a good thing because it didn't allow me time to over-perfectionize it.
